“There seems to be some kind of infestation down here, James. Some kind of…. blubs lying on top of the buildings!”

“We’re seeing them, Michael. Quite a sight. What are they?”

“I have no idea, but they do not seem like anything of this world… Oh my god…”

“What’s happening down there, Michael?”

“They’re eating the buildings…

Natural Enemy

-It’s coming this way! Jerome the bell-ringer was shouting, almost screaming, his heart beating wildly. -Please, God! Help us!

Father Juan was staring towards the horizon. They had heard the rumours. A monster. Centipede body, mantis eyes. Big as a mountain. Destroying villages, castles and cities along its way.

-Only one thing can save us now… Come, follow me!

Jerome hurried after the priest as he ran down the stairs of the clock tower. They entered the door to the private chambers. A staircase went deep down underneath the cathedral cellars, a staircase Jerome never knew existed. At the end of a long corridor rusty hinges shrieked as the priest pulled an old door open.

The room was dark and humid, smelled of rot and dirt. The light from the fire torch fell on a small crystal box in a corner. The book inside was old, very old. It had strange marks on it, runes and symbols. Unholy…

Haunted

No one ever went close to the old house on top of the hill. The last family who lived there fled in a couple of weeks. Others before them had not been as lucky.

Now a car was driving up the driveway. Two children came out from the back seat. The driver helped their mother inside with some boxes and suitcases befre he drove off.

A shadow was watching from the window. Once again they would invade his home, once again he would have to defend his property. Just because he was dead, they thought they could come and take what was his.

They would regret this…

Sleep

Hey kid! What’s up?

Jeremy opened his eyes. Someone was talking to him from under the bed.

Who’s there?

Uh.. We… I mean, I’m… A friend! That’s it, a friend.

Several voices giggled. Friend.. Hihihi! Good one, good one, goo…

Shut up! You’re ruining it!

Johnny sat up.

Come down here, man! It’s fun! Don’t be afraid, we’ll have a great time, just me and you!..

The Minotaur

I’ve recycled one of my older illustrations on this one, since I’m kind of on vacation. The original story, which is very different, can be read here: Knossos

They stood in silence. They had lost the rest of the group in the darkness. They had been walking through the tunnels for a long time.

They could hear the loud brawl from somewhere down the halls, echoing between the walls. It was coming closer, from all sides at once.

We need to get out of here! Derkylos’ voice trembled.

There is no way out, Melegros answered, resigned. We’re lost. He was holding Alcmene’s hand.

The brawl came closer. A scream. One of the girls. Another. Then a boy.

Come on, we have to get out of here! Alcmene pulled Melegros up on his feet. The three of them ran down a staircase, passed a corner. The screams continued.

A light. Somewhere down the hallway they saw a little light in the tunnel.

Run! We can make it!

Melegros stopped. That’s not daylight.

Gardahr the Grave Raider

He took a step down the slippery stairway. The scarce light from the tomb entrance made his trained eyes capable of seeing the steps going down into the darkness. Nothing more. A vast blackness in front was all there was.

Somewhere down there was the tomb of Ack Asamrk, the leader of the once so powerful Ingran Kuthu empire. Where there was power, there was wealth.

At the end of the stairway Gardahr saw the shining wet dirt floor. He took anther step. The floor moved. He pulled his sword. A hiss from behind.

A head came shooting towards him…
