Murder

This is the third part of a circular trilogy. The other two parts are called Empty Funeral and Scavengers. They can all be read individually and in any order.

He looked out of the window. The crows were uneasy tonight. They seemed nervous by some reason, jumping between the branches of the dead tree outside. They always gathered around his house, but today they seemed to be more. 

He poured himself a drink from a whiskey bottle, picked up a book and sat down. Outside he heard the crows caw. They were usually silent at this hour. Every once in while he looked up towards the window, wondering what was wrong.

UFO Roadkill (Audio narration)

…Mikkel sat up abruptly. There was a bright light in the sky.

-A UFO! He laughed at the idea, he didn’t believe in those kinds of things. But the light got bigger. And bigger. He got up on his feet. It was moving straight towards hi…

Bang! It hit him hard. His leg was broken. His back hurt, too.

The UFO stopped nearby, hovering in the air. Two creatures came out. They were big, almost double his size. Inside the crystal bubbles on their head he could see huge fangs. Clawed tentacles were waving from their bodies. They came towards him. Slowly. Threatening. Mikkel was unable to scream. He was shaking i terror, his eyes wide open. They made horrible sounds. He could feel the presence of evil.

Wikir and Dramgal were from a galaxy called X290. They were adventurers, and had found Earth in a book about the Milky Way…

Teddy Bears (Audio narration)

In a dystopian future, human beings are no longer necessary for production. The world is divided. In one part of the world people live in abundance, while in another killer robots hunt humans as pests. Malak needs to go into a heavily guarded factory to get a missing piece to his new family’s electricity generator.

Scavengers

This story is connected to yesterday’s post Empty Funeral. They can be read individually and in any order.

He opened the hatch and threw the garbage bag into the container. He looked up on the old house on the end of the road. It was dark. No light in the window on the second floor. Not anymore. The crows were sitting in the tree as always. He felt they were staring at him.

They saw me go up there.

Walking up towards his house, he looked over his shoulder. He had left the front gate open. He was sure he had closed it.

He turned and walked back down. He couldn’t leave it open, there were so much strange things going on these days. Horrible people. People like him… (more)

Empty Funeral

No one showed up at the funeral. The church was empty, only the priest and the coffin. The grave digger was standing by the door. The silence was striking, every move the priest made echoed through the big hall.

They pulled the coffin out on a trolley. The graveyard was empty as well. Every once in a while a car drove by on the road on the other side of the field. Crows were gathering in the skies as they walked down towards the far side, down by the fence… (more)
