He’s older than the mountains, older than the sea. One foot goes deep down in the ocean bed, the other is the roots in the ground. His hands are the animals, the creatures moving around, his body plants, fungus and anything else alive. His cloak goes through time and beyond. He sees all, forever changing, adapting to himself, to the world, to mother nature. Suffering is his way.
Today he rises from his throne. It’s time to take a step forward.

Straight ominous. Love it. Makes me wonder how nature will strike back, when it finally does

Thanks CommonsGuy! It probably won’t be pretty… the story in the internal link is about just that 😉

I know, I remember reading that story in ’17! As big as the dark side becomes, the light side will always come out on top

Thanks a lot, Quiet! This is the most complex illustration I’ve ever made, really. Can you find the Rhino?

Ok, is this a trick question? elephant, check, ladybug, check, shark and squid, check…I give up!

It might be hard to see, since it’s standing with the elephant and has the same colour. It’s there, though 😀

Sorry me again. May I ask how big the original painting is? Oh, I found the elephant, no problem, but can’t make out the rhino. Could you ask him to wave?!

Haha! I could, but he won’t 😀 The illustration is a full A3 size, on a bigger paper. Thanks!

Seems a natural way for the planet to purge itself of the human virus…

Well done! You might enjoy this take — the environment helps shape species, but here I argue that choices also impact evolution. https://petersironwood.wordpress.com/2017/04/11/ripples/

THIS IS SO GRAND! It makes my eyes very wide! I love the ambiguity of wondering what is he getting up to do? Is he angry? Is he going to be gentle? We have no idea and that is so chilling! 🙂

Thanks a lot, fitful! Heartwarming 🙂 I had the idea for this one lying around long before I started blogging, and I made it from my memory since I couldn’t find the sketch with the text on it. It might appear someday, and I wonder if it differs a lot from the finished work.
